One on of our parakeets, his beak grows quite long, it's probably.. 3/4 of an inch now, do you know why this happens? It either falls off (not the whole beak :p just the overgrown part) or we have to cut it off..

Try giving him something to chew on such as a wooden toy and one of those rouch perches and hopefully that should keep his beak trimmed a bit better.
Not sure why it happens though a lot of birds have that problem! :)

take him to an avian vet when his beak gets to long. dont just let him break it off. also there could be something wrong with him. but after you get his beak trimed then get him stuff to chew, such as jessica recomended, and also a mineral block

the beak gets overgrown on some birds because they are not chewers. The vet can clip the end off and file the sides for a very reasonable price. Our vet did this for $7 and never had to do it again and it has been a year for Skyler now.

he is pretty timid, his partner, she loves to chew on everything and her beak is really sharp (id know :p)
they have a cuttle bone in there, and they chew up enough of our pictures hanging on the wall
