I've read somewhere that if you had a black gerbil and a grey gerbil and they mate it is possible to get a light orange pup. I know that human genetics do work like that, but has anyone ever had this happen to them or anything like it? The reason I'm asking is because I want a light orange gerbil and the mother and father are black and grey. I know that the genetic background of the gerbils do matter, but I have no way of telling. I know that when I got my gerbils that one of their siblings was a light orange, so could I get a light orange pup?

With the information you have given here it's impossible to tell for sure. First, there are different "types" of grey gerbils. Your gerbil could be dove, lilac, sapphire, grey agouti, LCP agouti... all are grey in color, but have completely different genetics. Second, there are a lot of oranges too... Here: http://www.agsgerbils.org/Color_Strip/index.html you can scroll down and click on the names of the different colors to see the different colors available in gerbils. Maybe you can tell the colors of your gerbils for sure and the color you are looking for and we can work out some of their genetics and the possibilities you have. 8)

The link padfoot gave you should help, I'm glad the pups are doing well.
Did you manage to switch your pups off the cedar bedding and find an aquarium for them?

That's good  What color eyes do your pups have? If they have black where their eyes will open, or is the fur normal colored/pinkish tinted their? That'll help figure out the color.

One of them has a pinkish tinted eyes and the others have dark eyes. I dunno their eye colors yet because their eyes did not open.
