I'm in the market for a new cage and I need some help and suggestions on what would be the ideal cage for two parakeets (a male and a female). They are currently in a cage that is right around 18" 14" 20". It seems too small for them and I am trying to convince my dad to buy them a slightly larger cage. I've been browsing through ebay, what do you think of these cages:
Cage #1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46289&item=4360037999)
Cage #2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46289&item=4361773772&rd=1)

Now, both these cages are the same size and appear identical except that #1 has that peaked roof and its $10 more. Is there any reason that you can see for the cage to be more costly? Is that peaked roof a pro or a con?

Cage #3 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20735&item=4361740513&rd=1)
I doubt I will be able to get this cage but it looks great....I bet the shipping would be off the wall.

These are the 2 ebay stores that I am considering getting the cage from:Parrots Depot (http://stores.ebay.com/Parrots-Depot_18-X14-18-X18-BIRD-CAGES_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQftidZ2QQtZkm) and Pet Cages Etc (http://stores.ebay.com/Pet-Cages-Etc_Small-Bird-Cages_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQtZkm) . I really don't know what to look for in a budgie cage, they all seem so similar. Its getting pretty confusing. Any input and push towards the right cage would be greatly appreciated!

For parakeets, is it better for the cage to be taller or longer?

What about this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46289&item=4361500165) cage? Its longer than it is tall.....is that best?

I would say the last cage is the best. longer is better than taller cause birds dont fly up and down. and if you get a tall cage they will most likely spend most of there time in the top

also the minimum cage size for 2 budgies is 24 inches square. anything smaller is to small

the large aviary cage would work the best( your birds will love you), but I think its a personal preference with the other cages, I am currently looking into buying a cage as well, I found one that 19 H x 19 L x 14 W, not sure if its enough for my 2 budgies. ( its a cockatile cage) plus a stand.
I bough a similar cage to the first 2 ones you gave, the tall ones, for my lovebirds and theyre ok in it, I dont really like it that much, I think birds will be better of in a longer then taller cage. I might have to resell it.

Thank you all! So the long cage it is. Now I just have to convince my dad to get it ("they've been fine in that other cage for 2 years!"...... :( ) But it appears to be a really good buy so I've got my fingers crossed. Thanks again!

my sister-in-law has that last cage for her 2 parakeets. They do well in it, it seems roomy enough for them.

they might be fine, but bigger is always better.do you let them out?its like if you were left in your bedroom untill your parents let you out. woulnt you much rather have a bigger room to move around in than a little one?

I let them out but not too often. The female won't come out at all, she sits and just looks out. But the male loves to do super quick laps around my room. He's wicked fast and excellent at manuevering quickly. The female has never been able to fly very well, I don't know why.

I'm fairly certain that I will be able to get that last, long cage I listed (30"x18"x18"). And I'm definately going to let them out more often. And yes, I understand that analogy. Thats why I am trying to get a larger cage ;) .

Cage #3
I doubt I will be able to get this cage but it looks great....I bet the shipping would be off the wall.

LOL, I just looked closer and that cage has free shipping. It's the same lenght and width as the other cage but its 40" higher. And twice the cost. But all that really matters is the length, right? So its not really worth the extra cost.
