I recently purchased two little gerbils from the nearest PetCo. The saleswoman seemed overeager to get rid of them and gave me no time to ask questions about age, type, etc. I was not aware of how assertive I should be in my gerbil shopping or I would have made her tell me these things. I was on a gerbil site today making an attempt to match breed and age to my little babies. From the information I gathered, I assume that Zsa Zsa is an Agouti and Ava is a Red-Eyed Polar Fox. However, I still have no clue as to possible age. Zsa Zsa is about 4" from nose to behind, and her tail is 3" long. Ava is roughly 4.25" long and has a 3.375" tail. Measuring was difficult, so these lengths are slightly approximated. Can anyone help out? How old are my sweeties? I know it's hard to tell with no photos, but hopefully I'll have some soon. If anyone has any ballpark ideas or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!!!

I'd say they are at least five to six monthes old if not a little older. That sounds about as big if not a little bigger than my females that were born on Aug. 27.

That sounds appropriate. I wasn't sure I would get a reply from anyone. Thank you!
Sirius is a great name for a black gerbil! :p

He's a tuxedo black. (He is all black except his knuckles and a little white spot on his lower lip.)

I bet he is sooo cute!! I just love Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I babysit for a four year old who can't get enough of that movie or any of the other two for that matter. :)

Did you name them after the Gabor sisters, Lacre?

I sure did. My husband thought of it when I got my 1st pair of female gerbils. :p And the other two are obviously the Hilton twins, a couple of spoiled brats...

LOL, excellent names. ;) The Gabors were certainly one-of-a-kind.
