my hamster has been living in a sam module for the 2 weeks ive had him now and he seems to be attached to it. mostly because he has his routein and knows his way around.

he has 2 of the sam cages, and if i disconnect one for cleaning or whatnot, he gets upset that he cannot get into the other cage (pet store sold me too small of a cage).

i would like to get him a 10 gallon aquarium with a top that allows for tubes to his other bigger sam module but i think he will miss his first cage, which is wayyy too cramped for him.

i know that he needs his excersize, and id like to change his cage while he is still young, but i dont want to upset him too much.

is there anyway to ease the transition, or should i just make the switch and leave him in ther for a day or 2 to get used to it and never look back?

just looking for some advice. also do you think getting him a bigger cage is a good idea?

Just move him in there and leave him a day or two. Hamsters do get into a routine, but I move mine all the time. Getting any hamster a bigger cage is always A Great idea. He had to move from the pet store to the Sam module and he was fine, so he'll be happy living in a 10 gallon. My Syrian, Frostbyte, lives in a spacious habitrail with tubes this way and that and he loves it. I had to move him from a 10 gallon to the habitrail because the dwarfs couldn't climb the tubes anyways.

Just put him in there, if he freaks too badly put him back in his other cage and just put him in the tank for a few hours at a time, until he gets used to it.

I suggest combining them. You can buy or make plastic tubes and connect the 10 gallon to the Sam. Then your hamster will have more room, and you won't need to buy a new wheel or water bottle. Also, your hamster won't have to adjust to anything, it'll just have more room. Good Luck.
