I understand that it gets very annoying and tiresome about pet owners having to put there beloved pets to sleep because they cant afford the pet bills. Well I agree...I have 2 rats, 4 mice, 2 cats, and 4 dogs. I love ALL of my animals especially my rats and mice. But there "exotic" and not many vets will see them, and no insurance ever covers them. Well I took my rats to the vet the other day was bored sitting there waiting for my vet person to to come and saw a brochure about pet insurance..wasnt anything else to read. So i started reading etc. I was shocked when i saw that it coverd the usual dogs, cats, etc. But it also covers ALL exotic pets AND was cheap, lol. Cause my rats bill came to 122.22. So i thought it was pretty useful and to let all exotic pet owners to know about it, you can also sign up online well anyways since i havent shut up yet..im going to heres the site.

Awesome Pet Insurance! (http://www.petinsurance.com/)

Goodluck and let me know if I helped any.

Pet Insurance that covers ANY pet including exotics such as rats, snakes, mice, chins, gerbils, etc. And EVERY licensed vet accepts it. You can either sign up on the site or call. Its pretty cheap too, you can either do it monthly or annual. And they give you multi pet discounts.

I don't recommend VPI. I use to work for them and they try everything there is to not pay a claim. Once they have no way to decline the claim they try to delay it as long as possible...forms are supposedly never returned our the claim isn't "properly" filled out. I suggest NOT getting this pet insurance. There are a lot of them out there, but this isn't one of them. Plus, they had a huge credit card scandal. A former employee stole over 28k credit card numbers. Fortunately, the police caught him before he could charge over 15k. Anyway, I left before we they started doing layoffs since business got so slow. They didn't end up doing any layoffs, but they would send workers home early without pay. Anyway, in short, I rather open up some kind of savings account (I use a money market account) to save money for my ferrets vet bills.

I had a policy for my dog years ago through VPI - and had nothing but trouble. I cancelled when after calling to give them my new billing information, then calling to verify they took down the information properly (which they didn't) got us a big cancellation in the mail. They wanted me to pay a penalty on top of the regular price, for THEIR mistake. Not my idea of a good company, I switched to a specific pets-only savings account and have much better luck taking care of it myself.

It's not the people that work that that suck. It's their computer systems, they have a lot of problems with them which is why he converted (i.e changed systems) but that caused even more problems when the systems broke down. But anyway, management is also a huge problem. The best way to cancel is within the first 30dys (I think that's the proper time frame...it may be less time) you call and cancel. You'll get a full refund. I suggest not letting them cancel your policy because they may or may not send you into collections because of it.

I wouldn't mind buying insurance for my pets like I have on me and my son where you pay a monthly fee BUT then these places require you to pay up front for the bill BEFORE they pay on it?? That wouldn't help me at all if the bill was more than a few hundred dollars. Is there no pet insurance that you can file a claim through the vet's office and only pay a copay or something??

Banfield...with Petsmart has a program similiar to that. But it's only for cats and dogs
