oh boy...i came home from work tonight to learn my 12 year old brother wanted to try and re-introduce my (sister) dwarf hamsters. he felt it wasn't fair they were seperated. (he didn't know why i had seperated them in the first place).

he had read here on petshub that dwarfs can be together. so he tried it. and like i said before, they really don't seem to like one another.....welll...you get the idea...they had it out.

i walk in the door and here come my brother crying and holding Spice. she had some blood around her mouth, it didn't look to bad.

Sugar is perfetly fine, no bites or scratches.

poor little Spice didn't look too bad. it looks like she may of been nipped or scratched...i bathed her in warm water and dried her off...she hasn't bled anymore. but i'll call the vet anyway.

i then put her in her cage and she just bathed herself and played the rest of the night. she looks and acts perfectly fine...as if nothing ever happened. :hamster3:

as for my brother, i had to explain not all dwarfs can be together and why Sugar and Spice were seperated. he apologized up a storm and said he felt they were lonely and he felt bad and he said he will never do it again. :sorry:

he's never done anything like this and has never hurt the animals before... so i belive he will take this as a lesson and never do it again.

Your brother does sound like he just had the best intentions. I can understand a child thinking they were lonely.

Hope Spice is fine and recovers well.

Aww atleast he understands, I hope your hammie is ok.

Also it is NEVER a good idea to put hammie in water, they are actually very afraid of pools of water, and can get sick from it. A damp cloth should work just fine if you feel the "need" to bathe them.

how long had they been separated for before reintroducing them?

I have tried dwarf intros - but with very limited success. I do have two tanks of dwarfs with five in each, however they all are from the same litters and are with their moms, separated by gender.

ok, because me and my friend each got a baby teddy bear from teh same litter and are now separated (last week). we were going to reintroduce them (just for like a day, not permanently) since they aren't really territorial yet...but im wondering if they will recognize each other or if they will fight
