Ive been wanting to get a pair of sugar gliders for a long time now. I am at the moment saving up money to get them. For now I am doing research, but Ive been discovering some "worry points". First off, I always knew they were small, but they seem super small, like so small that if you hold them you crush them. They just seem too small to be 200 bucks. Another problem is finding a vet. I am having no lukc finding a vet. Help please!!!!

well, of course they are small. They are the worlds smallest marsupial.
you do have to be very careful when handling them & i would advise not to pick them up, but to let them come to you & just to let them hold on. then you cant crush them.. just be sure you dont sit back on them or forget they are with you.. as i have heard a lot of horror storys dealing with people forgetting they were in their pocket or whatever.
200 dollars is really not bad at all for two gliders.. be happy its not more like 300 or more. =]
as for a Vet, i cant help ya with that since i dont know of any around you.. but you may want to go a google search, or call around to regualr Vets. to see if they can recommend an exotic one..
that is a must though because if something happens you need someone that knows SOMETHING about the animal to help you & them..
hope this helped a bit..
good luck!

One reason Gilders tend to be pricey is to prevent people who are looking for a "disposiable" pet from ending up with one. Someone looking for something with the life span of a hamster isn't going to want to spend $200 on one. I won't lecture you as you have said you are doing research, but gliders live for 12-15 years and have difficult domestic lives w/ complecated diets and need lots of attention that many ppl can't offer and end up having to give them up. The high price is supposed to prevent all this. BTW, as someone just starting out I suggest SugarGlider.net as a great starting point, the forms are very helpful! Hope to see you around there!

Oh, and don't expect your baby to let you hold him like that at first. It takes a lot of time and bonding before they get to that point.
I reccomend NOT getting a glider until you are out of college. Too many times these little guys get left out in the cold when their owner doen't have time for them anymore. I hate that lack of respect for ANY aminal, and since gliders are my soft spot it really hurts. What ever choice you make, make sure that it is for the weel being of the glider and not for you. Good luck and keep us posted. :)
