I know nothing about breeding, but I can tell you that you should do a search on this forum on this topic-there are a lot of great website links and info on here...are you very experienced with hamsters? on one of the threads about breeding there are a list of questions you need to ask yourself before you even think about breeding-apparently it can be very tricky...

And one of my hamsters has had babies before, but she was about 3.so i dont know how old they have to be. she hasnt been in heat since i got her, but she is getting chubby. i dont know if she already is pregnant but she fights with the male.i will pst pictures to see if she alreay is. Thanks for your help.

well, could you wait until you are a little older to breed? there is no money to be made. what sort of a support system do you have in case things go wrong? would a parent help you? if the mom doesn't, for whatever reason, feed them are you prepared to stay up all night doing it by hand? please please please do a search on this subject-it will prove very valuable to you!

Lisa-
Thanks for your concern but i've done a lot of research and my Dad is an experienced pet breeder, so he is willing to help me with any problems. The last time my hammie had babies it was during the summer and she didnt care for the runt so i did have to stay up pretty late feeding it. we use kitten milk for the runts. and the baby ended up growing pretty normal and we were able to find a home for it. thanks again for your concern

Your girl is very young. I would wait tell she is 4 months old. If your hamster gets to be over 6 months of age and has not already had a litter, PLEASE DO NOT BREED HER! At 6 months if a female has not had a litter their hips fuse togeather. Then if she gets pregnant she cant pass the babies and it will kill both her and the babies.

Like Cammiehammie said, she is way to young. If you did researce it would of told you that. Before i even thought about breeding my spiny mice i did so much researce before i put the male with the females. My friend's hamster just had i think it was 24, can you find homes for 24 babies? Do you have extra cages avaiable?
I don't get that, you come here to ask questions, and then you just go ahead aput them together. Why even ask, if you aren't going to listen?

Thank you all for help...i've decided to wait to even introduce her to any males cuz now i am affraid of something happening to either of them. But i had 1 more question, is it normal for her not to be in heat at this age?? i thought they we sexually mature at 24 days, and she hasnt been in heat since i bought her. i dont think she is pragnant ( and praying she isint!! ) because she was in a cage full of females (that i know of). but i dont know why she hasnt been in heat yet. Can you guys help me??

thanks

what kind of hamster is she?? yea i think you wait a little more and let her be free without another hammy in the cage and while your still thinking about it just look up some infomation on breeding and see if you still want to do it. if you do it'll take some work but after all said and done you be happy with the baby hammies

You should first breed hamsters when they are 3months old and never more than 3 times in their life and don't breed them after 1 year either. You say they are from petstores, which also isn't good you don't know fo any diseases that may be genetic, I would research and get hamsters from a breeder instead.
