Today i rode with spurs for 5 mins that was all to get my horse round and when i got off his sides were bleeding!!!! I have never felt so bad in my life. I put cream on and cleaned his sides but they were really hot. How many days rest do you think i should give him. I feel so awful-i never noticed anything until it was too late!! And i've ridden him with spurs before.

He is still going to be really sore. I would at least consult your veterinarian and see what h/she says. It wouldn't surprise me if your horse is a little nervous and uncooperative the next time.

Yeah you should probably call the vet and let him rest for a few days depending on how well they look.
Just try not to be to hard on yourself.

What kind of spurs are you useing?
I have never heard of a horse bleeding after a ride with spurs. I suggest not useing spurs again if they are hurting your animal, If you don't feel you have enough leg then maybe you should try a stick instead (Dressage are nice and long, they work great).
Give your horse some time off for a week or so, Lung him instead, and when the wounds have healed try again but without the spurs.

Really short rounded spurs-they have never hurt a horse before but this horse was shaved on his belly so maybe that's why they caused irritated skin?

You should never use spurs on a shaved horse, you can cause infectious sores and can be very painful to the horse. Watch him (or her, can't remember) just to make sure he's not chewing at them.
