Hi All,
Would anyone like to talk about their birdies? Most of the people I know "just don't get it". They aren't really interested in birds. Best Wishes.

Thank you for your reply. I am new at using the internet to communicate with people--and it seems like fun. I have two english budgies and will bring home a new baby parrotlet in 4-6weeks. I find birds to be wonderful companions. My husband is just beginning to appreiate them. Since we just got our 1st budgie during the summer, he just needs a little more time to warm up!

How long have you been interested in birds? What kinds of birds? I have lots of questions and thoughts I'd like to talk about regarding parrots.

Best Wishes for a nice holiday season!!!!

I have two budgies, too. I'm about to get a cockatiel. I know what you mean, birdbrain2000. I only have one friend (besides the internet friends) that loves birds like me. http://petshub.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Hi Bird Lovers! I own a wonderful Congo African Grey named Abby, she has to be the most wonderful bird I have ever owned!!
I have had everything from budgies to Amazons and none of them ever compared to my grey! I searched to find the perfect bird because I also own 18 chinchillas and 3 guinea pigs and 2 dogs and the noise from the other birds I had owned in the past was too much for our house so we decided on a congo grey because they are not normally screamers, well Abby turned 3 this past Nov and she has been a total joy and we look forward to many many many.....years of joy with her in our family http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

Gotta Love them Greys http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif Jenny&Abby

Cockatiels are great, conures are probably my favorites though

I don't have my birds yet, but I learned alot about birds. I want to tell you guys something:I HATE WING CLIPPING! Just amagine being a bird with its wings clipped, about to soar threw the air.You to start fly, but you quickly relize you have no controll. You start falling toward the ground. This can really enger your bird.

I wish we didn't have to clip the wings also...however, the birds are living in our homes and community, and we must protect them---If they should fly away, they most likely will not survive. Companion birds have not learned how to live on their own and additionally, birds of prey can easily kill them. Since you don't have a bird yet, wait to make your decision....you can always let the wings grow back.

If you still feel strongly that the bird will suffer emotionally, perhaps you should advocate with those folks that are against having birds in captivity. This is where the REAL argument is....

I have an umbrella cockatoo. it is really my mothers but as it is a baby and she is ... older... we decided to get her to accept me as one of her people also. we dont like to clip her wings either, they are just growing back now. but during the summer we still clip them so she can play in the tree out by our pool (when we are in the pool) anyone considering getting a too should know that they are DESTRUCTIVE. a moments lack of attention can be the end of anything from pearl necklaces to tv's. she is soo lucky that we love her so much
