In the late summer of 1999 my Aunty, Nan and myself were on a walking holiday at Dartmoor, Devon. We had just had a long walk and we were sat in the car eating our picnic lunch when my Aunty said she could see a guinea pig and I thought she was crazy. Until I saw it to.
So we got out of the car and tried to catch it because it being a baby and all we didn't think it would survive. Eventually after about 45mins we had saved the baby gp. And we had to take it back to our B and B and ask them to keep it in a safe cage for us.
The next day they told us it was fine and that they had fed it carrot. Being an animal lover I thought I would take Rocky In and keep him. We named him Rocky because he kept hiding under rocks in the car park were we found him.
Rocky was timid and scardy for the first year we had him but after that he was tame and very sweet and loyal. Sadly Rocky died last year but I know I will never forget him.
We pondered and pondered over why a guinea pig baby was in a Dartmoor car park. My Nan said it could have been a wild one but I don't really think they get wild guinea pigs on Dartmoor! A sad but more realistic theory is that he was dumped there by someone. But dumped or wild and alone I know that we did the right thing by saving him and giving him a great life.

A truly remarkable Guinea Pig Rocky 1999-2004 :(

Ah! You are so great giving an animal that kind of chance! You should be proud of yourself and know that Rocky will be grateful to you forever!
