 Hi I just introduced my gerbils today after doing the split cage for a week. One of them is biting the other one on the nose. It really doesn't seem to be bothering her though. What should I do?

Are you positive one is actualyl bitting? Do you see her doing it, does the other gerbil's nose bleed, does she sqeeka dn run away?

I know while my little Peej was getting over his Aspen allergy he was overgrooming his nose to where is was bloody with scabs, and Dakot (one of his new brothers) would make it worse but licking and grooming Peej's nose more.He never actually 'bit' it, but he did make it bleed by nibbling off the scabs.

If it isn't hurting the gerbil and she doesn't mind, leave them. Otherwise you could split-cage them longer, and see if that helps any.

as long as it desnt seem to be bothering her, i think it would be just fine to keep them together. they are probably just getting used to eachother.

now, if she is bleeding and squeaking then, obviously, you should more her out of the cage before something bad happens to her.

just keep a close eye on her, thats all. ask me any questions if ya need to.. ;^)

My gerbils have been doing the same thing! Toki has had a bloody nose for almost a week now, & everytime I see Lyric near her, it looks like she's biting her nose...but Toki just lets her do it. I just don't get it. They're littermates & got along perfectly before. :(
