When it is night time my hammie Rufus makes this squeaky sound about every hr or so. My friends tell me he has the hiccups. Is that true?

hiccups in rodents are kinda rare....maybe your hammy is just playing at night?
is he vocal otherwise?

that what i was thinking but then the hammy would make the noise when breathing all the time, not just at night...

He could be having little sneezing attacks. Maybe he has a cold. Tink had one once he was rather squeeky.

My old hamster used to make little squeaking sounds once in a while, and we've heard my newest hamster make that noise once as well. I don't think it has to do anything with respiratory stuff though since both of mine has done that, and my newest hamster seems to be fairly active. Maybe it's just something normal though or it could possibly be sneezing.

my hammy always does that i think it is normal because mine is now 2 years old and it still does that
