well i've had hamsters before, but never had one in an aquarium tank...well i have a 25 gallon tank that we don't use and i was thinking about getting a hammy..is 25 gallons big enough? its not deep its just long and the width is about 12 inches...the height is aobut 12 inches..and the length of it is about 30 inches.. is this big enough ? also if i were to get a hamster.. would it be able to climb out?

definantly i keep my hammy in a 10 gal. It probably can climb out my has climbed up the water bottle befor. SO just get a cover.

10 gallons is too small for a Syrian hamster.
You might get by with a 15.
Of course a mesh screen top is a must.

12 inches wide seems kind of small, but i have a crittertrail house heres a picture...

Is this like the tank that your talking about? :scratchch If it is, then it looks long enough, But i still i dont know about 12 inches wide, and i would just get a sceen cover to go over the top "you can get them at petsmart for cheap"

thanks i had a crittertrail before for my previous hammies, but i found itvery difficult and time consuming to clean so hats why i'm trying to stick with aquariums hehe yea i would degf. need a screen cover eh?
