I bought to campbells from a pet store like 3 days ago and they are both female, one is older than the other. Well, they fight constantly and I am starting to think the older hamster is pregnant. How will I know, what are the signs? She made like a little nest yesterday (i know all hamsters make nests) but she had it off from the other hamster and they wouldn't go into each others cages. I need help, I don't need a pregnant hamster.

Well the only way she could be pregnant is if she was with male hamsters at the pet store, which is very possible. It might not have been intentional but possible. Did you buy the hamsters at the same time? Were they in the same cage at the store? It could just be that they are setting the "ground rules" for their new home. It's a territorial thing. Dwarves live peacefully with each other, but even my 2 dwarves fought the first couple of days. When they figured out who was boss, they never fought again. Then they became almost inseperable.

If for some odd reason she is pregnant, she will be more tempermental and aggressive. My female hammy had a very sweet nature about her, but the 2 times she has been pregnant she was nasty. She was always biting at me. Keep an eye on her. If she starts to look like a round ball of fur, she could be pregnant. They really don't start to look big until a couple of days before they give birth. The gestation period for dwarf hamsters is about 18-21 days. Hope this helped.

Yeah, I bought both of them at the same time and they were in the same cage with alot of others. She has bit my 1 time already and she does look like a ball of fur. Last night she was off in the corner of one of the cages and she was panting in a way, breathing fast, so that made me wonder alot.

It could be very possible that she is pregnant. The night before my dwarf had her babies, she began to breath very hard and couldn't seem to get still. The next day she had her baby. I believe she must have been in the beginning stages of labor.

Keep a close eye on her the next couple of days. If she has had babies she will probably get in her nest and you won't see her for several days. My hammy didn't come out for 5 days after she had her baby except for at night to drink and stuff her cheeks with food for the next day.

Of course, if the breathing continues in that way, you may need to have her checked. I don't know what the policies are where you bought them, but I got mine at Petco and they gave me a 15 day warranty. If they died they would give me my money back and if they got sick or started acting strange they would have their vet look at them free of charge for me.

If she does have babies don't let curiousity get the best of you. If she feels threatened in any way she will kill them.

I thought she was pregnant but I guess not. Guess they were just getting used to each other and having a dominence thing going on. Now both of them are sleeping side by side. I thnk it is so cute. I am so glad that she isn't pregnant though. I don't want anymore animals.

OMG! She was pregnant, I didn't even know she had babies hidden. Yesterday she was under the stairwell of her cage and today she was in the wheel, and guess what, when she came out, she had 5 babies under her! OMG! I can't believe it. First my dog had babies 2 days ago and now my hamster. Are campbell babies born with hair? The reason I asked is because hers already have some.

Aw, thats so cute. One of my hamsters had babies on Tuesday.. 3 days after I bought her. I think another one might be pregnant too. :/ Mine are winter whites. They didn't have any fur. They looked like gummy bears.

No they are not born with hair. This same thing happened to me. I didn't know mine had babies until they were about 6 days old. They had just a little bit of hair at that time.

Here is a picture of what they would look like at one day old.

This is a picture at 7 days old. He has a light covering of hair in this picture.

Yeah, I was just told these babies have to be at least 4 or 5 days old. I figure they are anyways, because they already have hair. I am going to go out there in a bit and just check up on them, to make sure all is doing well out there. I have to feed my ferrets and water them anyways and feed the fishies.

I just peeped in on them and they look just like that 7 day old picture. They have that much hair already just their eyes aren't open yet. I can't believe she hid them from me for that long.
