i've been looking around on sites and i have been thinking about making one of those bins for my teddy-bear hamster as a cage. I was just wondering what people that have made them used and what sizes i should go with and if a bin is good for a teddy-bear hamster.

thanks

Heres a pic of mine. The bins we have are pretty large. I'm not sure what size they are. The ones we got were like $4. n u can either drill holes in the lid or put chickenwire over the top. We did both. There's a divider in the middle b/c we have 2 dwarf hammies housed in there. They love it. Much more room than a standard cage. I hope this has helped you.

I use bins for all my hamsters- and both my mice boys have bins- and even one of my rat cages sits on a bin for more room (and makes a great catch-all in the bottom)

Here is one bin- all mine look pretty much the same now- wheel, igloo, food, water, toys- this picture is older, but will give you an idea.

You can see more pics of some of my bins and instructions on how to do the mesh tops on my website: http://www.freewebs.com/critterscoop/

I use big plastic bins for my hamsters and it works so well! I cut a hole in the lid to put a lookout tower in there. You can also add little hamster tubes around the sides and connect them adn stuff. However, my little baby is a big Syrian and she wouldn't fit into the tubes i bought at Petco. I should've measured her.....so now i'm in the procecss of um.... customizing the tubes so maybe she'll have room to slither through them. Hopefully they won't be totally useless.

You can try SAM tubes instead of Crittertrail ones- they have more space inside because they aren't bubbled- they just have little ridges for footholds.

Sorry my pics not coming in- you can see it on my website, though- and many more.
