I do know some horse movies and Westerns. Really westerns, hey they have horses in them that's all that counts right.lol. I know alot of good horse books too. Some movies that are westerns but have A LOT of horses in them, are Wyatt Earp, The Cowboys, The long Riders, and alot more.
I don't really know any strictly horse movies but if I can find some I let you know.

I have not seen the video myself, but I used to read the books and loved them. Its called The Saddle Club - Adventures at Pine Hollow. Blockbuster had copies last time I was there. You might also like International Velvet.
Here is a link for the video at amazon.com -

I really reccommend reading the Saddle Club series and the Thoroughbred series which has alot with racing and jumping and english riding. I really enjoyed that series growing up. Here are a few books at amazon on the Thoroughbred series -

I wish they made a few of those books into film! I hope you have a good hunt for horse movies.

One that is consentrated on a horse and a girl is Wild Hearts Can Never Be Broken. It's about high-diving horses. And how a girl, Sonora Webster became on of the most famous "diving Girls". Another one is the Black Stallion. It's based on the book The Black Stallion. One other is National Velvet. It's about a young girl that got a horse, Pie, and wanted to follow her dream about racing Pie in the Grand National. ONe that I personally don't like but is about a girl and a horse is the Horse Whisperer. Personally I would never watch that movie again. It is a cruel movie, in my poinion because of what they do to the horse. And 2 more that I haven't seen but people say they are about horses is 8 seconds, and Cowboy Up. People say that Cowboy Up is a horrible movie because it shows cowboys as a living devil. Also Charymane James is coming out with a movie about her and Scamper I think. It should be pretty good.
If you want any others I can probably think of some more.

Hey Rhiannon,
I was just curious, Who is your favorite race horse? What's the movie called? I was just wondering because I lovee the sheer power of the thoroughbreds and would probably love that movie.

I really liked that movie Wild Hearts Cant Be Broken. I read the book "The Horse Whisperer" before seeing the movie and the book is alot better. If you dont want to read that you can get the biography on who the Horse Whisperer is about. Its called "The Man Who Listens To Horses"
I found alot of great tips on communication in that book before I ever attended my first Pat Parelli clinic.

I'm not much in to the "horse wisperer" stuff. I have always been fasinted by the way Monty Roberts trains horses. I think he is the real horse whisperer, but of course I don't know the other guy. I don't know alot of people in the "horsey world". He has such a horrible past. I guess he is the only really good famous trainer I know. I have met him on two other ocassions. I also love that movie Wild Hearts Can Never Be Broken. What's your favorite movie and book?

Pat Parelli also teaches a similar way of Monty Roberts, I've been to one of his two day clinics and trained a horse using his technique and I highly recommend it.
I havent found alot of books about hunter/jumpers besides the Thoroughbred series, so I guess those are my fave. I dont really read them anymore since I'm so much older but I remember how much I did enjoy them.
I havent seen Wild Hearts in a long time, I've made a mental note to go rent it again!

When I train I use the join up method. I found that it is highly effective. It works really good for rebreaking horses. I tried join up with my BLM mustang but he tries to skip the running part and just does the join up part. He thinks he's to good to do all that.lol

Hey Rhiannon!
Yes we do have dvd over her but I will say I don't think I know the horse. Over here, well quite a few years ago, Beeswing was the Queen of the turf.
I'm from Illinios in the U.S. I would love to keep talking to you cause I think it would be neat to talk to someone from a different country!

I don't know if someone already got the answer or not. LOL I just wanted to post since I read that and remembered that movie also. It bugged me enough until I did a search online...I dunno if it is the same one I was thinking of, but if it is, it's "Two Bits & Pepper"
