Hello all, i am new and i just got a kitten 2 days ago and she is 6 weeks old and ever since i have brought her home she hasnt gone to the bathroom! She has played and roamed around my apartment and been in and out of her litter box, but she has yet to go to the bathroom and it has been 2 full days! Should i be worried, what should i do? If you have any suggestions please let me know! Thanks

are you sure she has not gone places you have just not found yet? Like under beds or behind things? She may just not know yet what he litter box is for. If you know for sure she hasnt gone at all, not even pee'd, you may need to see a vet. But my guess is the kitten has gone and you just havent found it, which could get stinky! :/

oh, you may try keeping the kitten confined to a bathroom for a while with food, water and a litter box, and a cpl toys, but you can still go in to play with her now and then. That way you can tell for sure if the kitten has used the bathroom. If she has been in there for a whole day and you still see no traces of anytyhing, then I would maybe seek a vet. if not, you just have to worry about "litter-box training" your cat, and finding the places he may have gone to the bathroom around the house...not exactly fun, lol.

i am almost positive that she hasnt gone because i have been constantly around her since i brought her home and since i just moved into my apartment there is a lot of open space so i could pretty much tell if she had gone, shes been eating and drinking good and her tummy was nice and full when i left this morning and i am going home to check on her in about 15 minutes, ill update!

ok well i just got back to work from checking on her and still no potty.. i am going to call a vet. The only thing i dont understand is that she is so playful and happy, as well as eating and drinking regularly.

You would be amazed how quick these guys can go potty somewhere. I am betting that the cat went somewhere else.

whoops is right, and the kitten is probbaly not going to go with you standing right there either. Especially if she is acting fine, if she had not gone ot the bathroom in a couple of days she would probably be miserable, and if she seems happy, you can almost bet you have some potty to clean up somewhere in your house. It is good that you are so conerned though and willing to go to the vet already, but before spending the money and taking the cat somewhere he might be scared of, try the bathroom idea and then check the whole room vry thoroughly for anything, if you find nothing after a day, then 'd def see the vet.

The runnyness is prolly from worms. When she is 8 weeks old get her dewormed. Also you can get her popp tested at a vet without the vet seeing her. Just tell them that this is where you are planning to get her shots done, and get her fixed, but you poos are runy and want a fecal done...it costs like 10-20 dollars and only takes about 15 minutes.

however it wasnt runny until after she ate because the first 2 times it was pretty hard and the last time after she ate alot it was runny

Next time she goes, put the poops IN the litter box and leave them there. That may give her the idea.
If that doesn't work, put her in a cat carrier with a little cardboard litter box with some litter. Don't forget food and water. :) The point is that she won't want to poo where she sits, or in her food or water, so she'll choose the litter and then realize that's where she goes.

i have put it in the litter box the past few times and she still hasnt gotten the idea, i will try the pet carrier this weekend and hopefully get her to understand! Its becoming really stressful and costing me a ton in carpet cleaners!!!!!!!!

UPDATE!! ok on Saturday i took my kitten to the vet, we had planned to start her vaccinations however like some of you might have assumed she was a lot younger than the people had told me, shes only 4 weeks old and weighs right at a pound and on top of that has a respitory infection, nothing serious the vet said and she wasnt too worried because its pretty common, anyway we have 2 perscriptions and i am also very happy to report that when we left the vet we went and got another litter box and a different kind of litter and as soon as i placed it on the floor and her in it she knew immediately what to do and hasnt had an accident yet! anyway thanks for all your help i will post pics as soon as i can

just remember that training a kitten or puppy takes patience and unfortunately the cost of carpet cleaners is only but one of the drawbacks of owning a kitten.
