Disabled woman's dog sorts mail too

LONDON -- A pet dog, trained to help its disabled owner with household chores, has gone a step further by sorting the household mail, a British newspaper has reported.

Denver, a five-year-old male cocker spaniel, collects the mail when it is delivered every morning and delivers letters to the member of the family they are addressed to, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The dog's owner, Ms Jeannie Crangle, 45, said she did not believe her pet could read, but he identified the person by the length of the name on the letter.

""One day, he didn't bring me the post at all,'' she was quoted as saying in the newspaper. ""Instead, he took one letter to my partner, Tim. I didn't twig at first, then it suddenly dawned on me. The letter was addressed to Tim.''

Letters addressed to Ms Crangle's son, Peter, who is away in the army, are left on the bed in his room. 1 ""Tim's mail is normally addressed to Timothy Johnson, which is a fair bit longer than my name. Peter's surname is Hurst, which makes his the shortest,'' said Ms Crangle. ""People think we are crackers, but it really happens.'' --AFP

More updates on this wonder dog.

Denver, the five-year-old cocker spaniel, was trained as a Disability Assistance Dog.

He can do much more than sorting letters.

He had already learned to do the shopping, gather up clothes for the washing machine, respond to the telephone, and collect newspapers.

When can my dog ever grab a can of coke for me from the refrigerator?

That is an amazing story. I am often surprised by my own dog's behaviour in certain situations and how she reacts and acts towards certain things. Animals never cease to surprise and shock me with just how incredible they really are!
