I want to get a budgie. The pet store I'm planning to buy from is able to clip the wings if I want them to. I don't know if getting thier wings clipped is going to harm them or not. If it doesn't then I would like to learn how to clip wings. If anyone can give me any or all of this info please contact me! THANKS!!!

It does not physically hurt (pain) your bird. It is just like cutting your hair. When you get your budgie, have them show you how to hold and clip. I find that for me, showing me hands on is much better than telling, but I'll try.
I bird's wings is made up of rows of feathers, like shingles on a roof. I have someone hold (usually me), and have someone clip. I hold the wing at the elbow, the joint that is in the middle of the wing, never hold the tip of the wing. The just clip the longest set of feathers, up to the very end of the next set of feathers on top of them. It makes a good line to follow.

It FEELS like cutting yout hair or nails maby, but unless you get disabeled every time you go to cut your hair, you can't really compare it.
There are MANY sideeffects to clipping wings that many people overloock, and takes to lightly.
The bird is built for flying. Theyr whole body, breathing and digestive system is built for flying.
Shortly described, Wingclipping is a way to purposly disable a creature. A budgie can't get around very well at all if it is clipped.
There are as i said many sideeffect to clipping a birds wings, both physically and mentally.
I'm kind of in a hurry right now, but if you want to, you can email me and i will explain everything to you, then you can make your decition.
