Hey ummm i think my hammy is pregnant. She hasnt really gotten any bigger just a little bit in the butt. She will sleep for a whole day and be a wake the next day. She has been very cranky. Also she has been piling up her nestin matieral the last 3 days!?! About 3 of her nipples are red and showing and her butt opening looks a little red? It is really wierd. We have had her for about 2 months now. She had a boyfriend but he got out of his cage and we never found him :( He has been gone for 26 days. Can she be pregnant??? I've heard the can hold the pregnancies? She is all white wit red eyes. Please help me!!

Okay. Lets get started. # 1 Why did you have a male and female in the same cage? # 2 you said he has been gone 26 days. Is there ANY way he can get back into the cage? (climb up and jump in, squeeze threw bars, ect...) # 3 Did you leave food out for him and see if he ate it? # 4 Have you found any little presents (i.e. poop)# 5 Those are signs of pregnancy so it is very possible. # 6 Why did you have a male and female in the same cage? (yes I know i asked that before but it is a very important question.)

I am not picking on you i promise because you seem like a really good person BUT you should have never bought a boy and girl and put them in the same cage. You should have either bought 2 cages or one hammie. It does sound like she is might be pregnant from the info you gave. Look up hamster diets for pregnant hamsters. you can probably make it with stuff you already have. If the cage can be placed on a dresser do that. if not i would raise it up some how so whatever is leaving lil presents cant get to her and hurt her. she probably needs to be in a quiet room also. Keep checking her to see if she has had any babies or looks pregnant and try to buy another cage that is inescapable so you can sex the babies and put the boys in a seperate cage. Read up some more about handling the babies and stuff like that ( you should be able to find all the info on that by looking at old posts) and you should be set. (srry its so lengthy) oh yeah by the way try to look for homes for some of the hammies a month or so after they are born. (if she is pregnant) Hope I help good luck.

She should not still be pregnant after 26 days! 19 days is long and any more than that is extremely uncommon. I would take her to a vet if the butt continues to get red and no babies come soon! Not to be gross, but is her stool still solid?
