Can you guys post a picture of your gerbil(s) and then tell me what camera you use. I need a new camera and I want to see what cameras would be good for close up pictures, and scince when taking pictures of gerbils is pretty close up... well you get it. It would be a huge favor for me:):) :o

Kodak EasyShare DX4530. The only complaint I have is that the close up setting has no flash so some pics come out dark when I use it.

The last two were taken through the glass, so they could be even clearer.

Thanks! I could use other peoples photos! Please people respond, I'm in desperate need of a new camera without spending 1000$ for a semi-professional camera.

I use a gameboy camera.. that hooks up to my computer. That is what I used for the pictures in my gallery. As you can see they're crappy though, so I don't bother taking shots of them. I will be getting a video recorder that does take picture shots in about two months, then you all can see my gerbils, and they're habitats.

I can't wait Cornflakes! What color gerbils do you have?

Dove, Black, Spotted Agouti, and Agouti. Not much of a selection, but they are all pretty cool. I like to brag about Twitch though, he has the coolest tail. Its all golden and at the end its all white with black ticks at the very tip. He is a gorgeous gerbil. I would pick him over a siamese, burmese, or any other gerbil. He's just too cool. He's also very friendly. Hopefully he'll be a father soon, and more gerbils will look like him!

Motion And Control Ring Optical is what it stands for. It generates better pictures.

cool. I really want this semi-professional camera from sony. Its right up there with the semi-prof canon. Its about 850 plus tax. It take pictures in the dark:) But i'd rather not spend that much on a cemera just to find out that I suck at photography.

Thanks Doom Gerbil. Your gerbils are very pretty.

I suggest you get a good autofocus compact camera with at least 3.5 megapixels, flash and macro
if possible go to a shop and try them out
spend time finding out what the buttons do and what feels comfortable
and lcd screen is good, so you can see pictures before and after you take them,
flash is good, especially if it can be set for different conditions
macro allows close up pictures, ideal for gerbil etc who never stop moving
dont worry about the movie functions some have, these are very poor quality
be sure its not too complicated
and remember that the big advantage of digital is you crop the pictures,

The pictures from my digital camera are crap compared to yours. Mine are very bright from the flash and they are alway blurry. I hate my camera.

My camera is a Fujifilm Digital FinePix S3000.I got it a little over a year ago and paid $350 for it (with the sevice plan and tax, it was $350 at Best Buy) I love it. It has a 6X optical zoom, and I don't know what it has for digital zoom... I don't remember...It's 3.2 megapixels, and takes short movies (up to 30 seconds) They now have a newer model out.... It's the same camera, but has a mic, and can take longer videos.... It was about $100 more than the one I got.

But I agree, Macro is VERY important for gerbie pictures.....You don't "Always" need it, but it's a wonderful feature to have... It usually has a design of a little flower on it.

I have pictures all over this forum, but here's a couple anyway....

I need to get a digital too. I doubt my mom would let me use hers because "it is for work!" She's a real estate agent, so she does photo alot of houses and what not.

Mine was about $500-$600 but it can take super long movies with sound (over 5 minutes) and has so many setting I haven't had a chance to try them all.

Thanks for all the pictures guys! I decided on getting the Kodak EasyShare DX7590 5.0MP Digital Camera. My father and I are going to go check out the cameras at Futureshop maybe sometime on the weekend. And I noticed a lot of people have kodak easy shares and the pictures are really clear. Kodak is more in my price range so Im going to go for that.

Thanks guys!:)
