my freddy has got an infected toenail. it was growing crooked, so while i was trying to clip it while he was asleep he kicked his foot and nail ended up coming out :( it reduced the swelling in that finger/paw though cuz i think the crooked nail was whats bothering it. i dabbed some tea tree oil on to sterlize.
any other suggestions?

I've heard of using flour to stop bleeding? I'm not all that sure tho. I bet u can find out more w/ a lil research. How bad is the infection?

I didn't know you were supposed to clip hammies nail? How and when are you supposed to do that? And with what?
Sorry for ur hammie's toe...I had an infected toe nail once and it really hurt...but now that its gone it might just start to feel better. If its still iritated and looks exactly the same or worse in a few days....I'd ask the experts...the vets :)

mine get kinda long and poky so i trim them a bit while theyre asleep. the reason freds got infected was becuase while i was trimming his, he kicked his foot and that kinda pulled the nail. hes the only hamster that twitches in his sleep though while i clip--the other ones dont budge

I've never once clipped my hamsters nails. To be honest I dont think you should do it, things like that are best left to a vet.
Your hamster's toe will probably heal up alright because they are very resilient animals, but if it gets any worse you should take him to a vet or he might end up losing the leg (or worse)through infection.
