Help please.....I know her growth is not good and it has gotten so large, I put in less tubes and larger ones to help her...but now the growth is black and leaking (ink type ) please tell me if shes in pain??
I still take her out to run some but she tires easily ....I checked with the vet here and we don't have one for hamsters in our area.....miles away and no way to get there.
But Bear is eating and still response good.
and there is no emotion's for my tears. :(

She had these small spots on her and the vet said could be tummer but she couldn't say for sure to take her to tropical vet...none in the area....then the one spot on her thigh started growing...this took a long time ...almost 6=9 mo.s but now it is the size of a half dollar and black...it started a bulbus growth and now is a big bubble....the center is starting to thin and I try to keep her out of any tubes.
its hard and she doesn't mind if i touch but I don't.
It is the first time I've seen the leaking though.
She still poops her self up to be picked up though...her spirits seem to be ok...only she tires so fast now...shes a wee over 2 yrs.
shes the sweetest thing too.

this may be her way of going and i hate to say that but it may, i would just let her live out her life if she seems to be pooping and peeing right. if you see that she is having trouble or she semms to be in pain than i would well you know i really hate that word. :( i'm really sorry i lost my first hamster last september.

I didn't find anything on that but i will still look, i do come over something i will be sure to post it!

Yes its really hard to watch her like this...but she doesn't seem to be in pain..I couldn't handle that...if she acted in pain I would have to have her put to sleep (I'd have to make my hubby do it though).
She still poops like a champ and wets good...her urine is more le puw but I don't care (not her fault)
She eats and drinks good, but the black fluid is like ink. And I haven't seen any spiders? But I do check her all day. And she loves the dog food...just read about that....and dandelians, rose pedles. (teats)
They just dont live long enough. She has the best personality! If its a tumor I would have never guessed it would look like this though.
Thanks all for your input and kindness!

I just wanted to let you know I was finally able to put Bears pic.s up...shows her tumor. She is still eating and drinkin good and still wanting to explore only slower and she tires faster. Her leaking is due to her scratching & cleaning and I clean her nesting more often. But I noticed when I was holding her the "INK" type leak left a menthol effect after I washed my hands...so curious??
But she is full of life still and no pain to be detected. I am still searhing to find a doc. in my area.
Love all my pets as they truely love unconditionally

Yes the Ozzing is just like liquid Ink...and I have such good news!...I had to go in to get doggie meds for my Hanna for forth of july ( she goes nuts now) and I asked if they knew any Doc in the area that would look at her ( I got teary eyed) and nurse went in back and came out to tell me Doc will do surgery on her this tues...I am so relieved I could shout!
The pic is smallest they would allow for...but I did put more on my Photo album you may be able to save as and then edit to enlarge....I am the happiest and luckiest person right now.

Thanks Fluff n Roll. Dolly do you have a blacklight or some type of ultra violet light? If so shine it across the abcess and see if it glows green. it could be a fungal infection, and that would cause the necosis. A fungal Infection would also leak a sticky fluid.

ok dolly you said your hamster is going ino surgery! You said she is eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, walking, pretty much acting fine. Besides the point of the black ink.

the anistetics will be more of a hurt then just letting her be!
it can be really powerful when sh is under, you could even looose her while she is in the surgery!!!:(
How old did you say she was (2) she wont be arund much longer, sorry to be so harsh, but i would just let her live out her life.
If she doesn' seem to be in pain let her be, dont put her in more pain, surgery will be a lot of stress! but it s your decition.

Thank you so much...I cried all the way home too...and its only 40.00 not that I care.
No I don't think I have ultra light ...but I'll check and see for sure. How would they get this fungus?
I have to stop all her feeding at midnight for surgery and I told the Doc. she was too small to stop all...he said I could give her a drink and small breakfast 4-6 am...she goes in at 8:30 am...I am praying for my hamster....I know there are still risks...but if I lose her I know she'll be asleep and not in pain...but I have faith. I am still a wee scared.
Thank You for the support...I was really beside my self.

Fungus can be caused by plastic cages, bedding, our hands-we have a stronger immune system then most animals. Acrylic nails, athletes foot- there are many causes. I honestly believe it is not a tumor. He would be ill, it would affect her entire immune system. It could also be an abcess. If it became infected it could cause the necrosis- which is dead tissues- that would cause the black appearance. If an abcess it just needs to be drained, and an antibiotic started. Good Luck with her, she is beautiful.

Yes...I know...I have been tossing this around for a few weeks now...but when she sarted having the leaking I painicked and the doc ( I was sure to go over all the scary parts) said she should be fine...yes I was asking about the fact that she didn't need any food or water after midnight and I asked to talk to doc...as she plays more at night and so small she could dehyd. and he said I could give her a small breakfast and drink...I am planning to play with her good that night and hope she is not that active.
O...and it is not sticky and no sent either..not thick just black ink type...thanks CammieHammie and f1uffster ...is a fungal infection easy to get? same symtoms?

They are both very easy to get (abcess & fungal infection) both could be treated with antibiotics, and both would leak, a tumor would not- a tumor would be hard. Abcesses they will drain, and give antibiotics, a fungal infection they will do a coulture, and treat with antibiotics. Both are alot better then a tumor. ((Hugs))

I am going to be sure and ask the doc. all this before he cuts on her....if she can have antib. then i'd do that before the surgery....she has a 3 sectional cage and one is plastic and her tubes...my nails I just got...but I try to wash her cage once a wk with a little bleach and rinse good...but I change her bedding and rest evry day or every other day.
I just want her to come out of it...I hope I keep my cool when I try to advise the doc on her anaesthetic's. I have thought of the overdose and I know its easy for humans let alone for her.
It would be soo great just to know med.s could clear it up.

I had to let you know...Bears Tumor (I think) has a hugh hole in it, unbelievable! it appears to be a hard black shinny pudding look to it and you can see the inside (I could put my pinky in it, but no way) and the sides look as if she has clawed at it or been chewing, scrapping with her teeth. :sorry:
She still has all her funtions and is not as active but still wants to be out and about.
It would almost remind you of a boil only hard around the sides....I believe the skin was so thin it had to open.?? :undecided :worried:
Love your wee friends,
Dolly :heartbeat :hamster2:
