I've only had my hamsters for 3 days (A boy and A girl), and I think my girl might be pregnant. I don't know how she usually acts, so I don't know if she is acting weird. She is bigger than the boy and I think they are the same age (like 8 weeks old). She is not very active, except for pacing back and forth like crazy in her cage. Should I take out the boy? She is not very friendly at all. Everytime I pick her up she shakes and tries to bite me. Do you think she is pregnant and what should I do? If she is, this is her first litter... anything special I need to know for that? Please respond ASAP!! Thank You.

since i have never had this happen to me, i would suggest that maybe your hamster is just scared being in a new home. they say that when u first get your hamsters to put them in a clean cage and not touch them for 3 days so they can adjust, since hamsters are the most vulnerable to trama. i would suggest just trying this first.

some things that happen to hammys when their prego r that they get a huge stomach, they hoard a lot o food and they make a huge nest.

I'm not sure you should have a boy and a girl together in the same cage all the time. Females are very territorial and solitary she might attack him. I just put my male and female together when I want them to mate (only for about 30 min. in a nutral area) If she is pregnant they only stay prego for 15-18 days. you shoud give her lots of nesting material (T-paper is best) and fresh food like grated carrots and srawberries. Also she might drink some whole milk out of a shallow dish. And whatever you do don't disturb the nest or touch the babies for at least two weeks. SHE WILL eat them if she thinks they are in danger.

also make sure she stays undestrbed
if u have other curious pets or little brothers or sisters then keep them away
