when they curl under the paws, your WAY over due for a clipping. the vet will do it for cheap. i dont know if you live in the us or brittan but it is fairly cheap. in dollars it is no more than $10 at the most.

Can't You Just Cut them Of Yourself With a Nial Cliper????

you can't cut them with a nail clipper because they have very sensitive veins and the easiest way of trimming their nails is to put a small piece of sandpaper in the cage and they will 'dig' on it and it will get their nails shorter. I learnt this from a vet in case anyone was wondering.:agree:

More on the sand paper trick, don't get sand paper with glass on it, get the finest grit you can, bury the sand paper and some food underneath the bedding, they will dig to get the food, and file down thier nails. I wouldn't suggest clipping the nails yourself, there are vains in their nails unlike ours and it will hurt them if you accidently clip those.

if you know how to clip the nails then you can do it, but hamsters have veins in the paws ( like cats) ttaht go out preety far and you have to cut it perfectly

Take to a vet to trim unless you can do it, but my opinion, I would bring to the Doc's, my hammy would not sit still for a moment!;)

well i guess it would depend on the hamster. one of mine is always digging at teh bottom
( tahts how te nails would get shortened) and the otehr never does.

To me I think sand paper is rough on the little feet..
