I don't mean to be gross, but what happens when a mama hamster eats her babies (I've heard this happens). Don't the babies have bones? Does the mama leave the bones or hide them or what? Just curious in case my hamster has her babies and eats them. Also, my hamster might be pregnant. I think she is building her nest in her wooden house. Should I leave the house in the cage or take it out so I can see what happens? I'm wondering because this is her first pregnancy and my first time owning a pregnant hamster. The daddy is in the cage too and I was thinking I need to see what's going on so he doesn't eat them or something else doesn't happen. What do ya'll think? Should I leave the house in the cage so she is comfortable or take it out so I can see what's going on?

leave the box (duh!!) and the mum eats all the babys coz their bones aren't formed well. finaly the farthers don't pose a thret unless there syrians which are SOLITARY! so if there syrians they shouldn't be together but if there dwarfs remove him a day before birth and place him back in a day after birth:agree: :apart:

Dwarfs help raise the babies. I wouldnt reccommend removing them at all.

the ma will eat the babays if their disturbed if there are ne sudden changes or if she needs the minerals/ vitemans. she will eat the bones too but it will be like soft cartilage.

hamsters turn to cannibalism for many reasons..

while hamsters in the wild would do that when there are too many of its kind living in a limited space... captive hamsters have far more reasons why cannibalism take place:

- disturbances in its surrounding
- population pressure
- protein deficiency
- disruption in milk production
- lack of restraining cry
