I know that corn isn't good for mice (It makes them more prone to toumers) and I was wondering since it isn't good for mice is it okay for hamsters? Since they are small like my mice.
Also can hamsters have peanutbutter? Any other treats around the house they can have?
~I am asking this because I am keeping my firends hammys for 6 days and I want to make them as happy as possible.~ :)
:) Thank you all for any help you give me. :)

Hi! I'm sure if you browse around the forum or maybe do a search you find lots of threads on hammy treats but mine LOVE carrots. they seem to like cooked (steamed) corn on the cob. it's hilarious seeing them try to pull it around the cage with them! :D I've heard other people give their hammies fruits...like strawberries. I've haven't tried it yet though! Have fun with hammies and take good care of them! :p

my hammies like cheese, boiled eggs, peanutbutter, carrots, lettuce, dog biscuits, cat food and dog food, they also love bread soaked in milk... not too much though... only give small amounts of these foods and not all at once.

My hamster LOVES strawberrys but I only give her a little bite of her treats at a time so I can give her a variety and it won't upset her digestion.
I don't know about dwarves but my syrian loves lettuce, peanut butter (a little on a piece of toast), apple, strawberry, and yogurt drops. These are about the only treats I feed her. I give her a little taste of something new every week. Once a week.

okay I'll be sure to let you know.
I've just been picking it out to be safe. :) I told my friend to too.
For mice it is just a cheap filler uper they eat the corn and then don't have room for other stuff. And it gives them cancer. :(

Don't give corn to dwarfs...in fact, you really don't want to give them anything with sugar in it. Dwarfs are more susceptible to diabetes...
Corn is pretty much a no-no in at least a few animals. Most of the time cooked corn is ok (as long as their is no butter or salt on it lol), but it's the dried stuff in the food mixes you want to try and avoid.
