My dog is virtually silent 99% of the time. The only time she consistently barks is at the sound of the deadbolt at the front door "clicking" ... Why does she do this? Is there a way to teach her NOT to bark at the door?

Boris does it too, but I like it personally. At least if someone wants to get inside one day he might be turned off, and we will be aware of it.

I'm not really sure what you mean by a deadbolt clicking if you mean someone coming in or just locking the door.. If its locking the door, does she know what the noise is? Maybe you can keep doing it in front of her to show her whats making the noise? Otherwise..Why would you not want her barking at a sound of the door? That's normal for a dog. It's a territory thing. If someone was breaking into your house, would you want her being silent?

You can teach her a word like "quiet" or "shutup" so she shuts when you tell her too... But you probably won't be able to get her to completely stop barking a the door..
Just say quiet/shutup/whatever and the second she's quiet, give a treat and praise her. She'll learn it eventually depending on how smart she is and how fast she learns.

Praise her for a job well done then have her be quiet. You can teach her to be quiet by distracting her and getting her invloved in something else.

i agree with what everyone else said. other ways though may be like to grab her mouth, not in a harmful way just hold it shut for 1 second point and say "no". then continue to do that each time and they will eventually pick it up. treats are good idea when they listen to you.
