Is hot sauce toxic or anything to a dog?

I googled it and nothing came up. I guess the smell of food outweighs the burning sensation of hot sauce. My dog ate a good amount of it and drank a ton of water afterwards and is otherwise find. I even gave him a frozen chicken wing to help cool his system off. :rolleyes:


Jerk. I was going to eat that. I did dare him to eat it and even said "goahead". Then I had to leave the room for a minute. But I seriously didn't think he'd touch it. lol. It was the Frank's Xtra Hot brand. My other dog can't stand the smell of hot sauce. :o

Nope he will be fine..may have a bit of a tummyache but overall it is okay.
Some ppl use that stuff instead of BitterApple spray to teach their dogs not to chew on stuff. I am assuming this wont work for your dog! Sorry you lost your chicken wing but think of everything he has done for you! :D

haha thanks. Pfft. I probably spend more money on his food than mine. He could leave me something. lol.

Bitter apple wouldn't even scare him away.. He eats green apples too. lol. I wish I could find something to keep his face out of the garbage. He won't tear it apart, but he'll take something off the top if he can reach it. :rolleyes:

As a wise trainer told me when I complained about my lab getting into the garbage.. she said follow this advice.
Take a newspaper roll it up and smack yourself with it. She goes I have seen ppl do numerous things to block a dog from getting into the garbage and they always fail.
So place garbage can under sink shut door.. make more trips to garbage can outside out of dogs reach.
Problem solved!

That dog will go after anything huh well then I see why he gulped the hot sauce! LOL I had a dog that ate a non breakable dog bowl... took it back and said it broke. LOL

you might get a minor case of diarrhea in relation to the hot sauce intake but other than that your dog should be fine.

You're lucky in was Frank's and not the stuff I eat,I know some humans who had to drink a half gallon of milk to kill the burn.Other than what Head typed,I don't think the dog will be in any danger,he won't want to eat wings again ,maybe,but that's ok too,ain't it? I use" Hotter than Hell" hot sauce,the "Beyond Hell,the Devil's revenge"make it's a 10 or more in the hot sauce ratings.

LOL @ taking back the nonbreakable bowl saying it broke.
I usually just dump the garbage before it gets to the top or pull out the bag and put it on top of something. But as it gets closer to garbage night, I get lazier and leave it and it's only on monday's he can reach it and snatch something. lol :rolleyes:

You can get on line,google hot sauce and they'll take you to plenty of sites,I bought my first bottle at Southwest Trading Co.,I don't know if you have one there where you live or not. You just got to look around in certin grocery stores,not Wal-Mart or Target,the hot sauce they have is like catsup.If you live anywhere near Louisiana,Texas,Arizona,or any southern or western states,you won't have a problem finding it. Also try Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce or Blair's Death sauce...3am.,yeoooww!
