Hey.. i was just looking through a hamster book and i came upon winter whites... After i get more information about them i might get one because they are too cute! but not for awhile (maybe for 2 years) . But i thought it was cool how their fur changes colors in the winter and summer. But here are some of my questions..
1)Do they live solitary or can i have two?
if so which is better, males or females?
2) Are they fairly easy to handle and tame? (I heard some rumor that if you dont handle them for like a week they'll turn mean)
3)What are the possibilities of them biting me when young?
I am very expierienced with syrian hamsters(Ive probably had 7 in my lifetime) and i thought that id try something new. Oh yea, i've heard of hairless syrian hamsters(theyre so cute!) Are there hairless dwarves? [ hehe just curious ;) ]

--Oh yea, and i didnt include the other 14 Syrian babies Momma Hammy gave birth to and I raised until it was time they could be given away to friends.

Winter whites can live in pairs. When choosing the hamster by gender it is not always clear just because a website might say it or because people tell you its true. This is not the case. I have said this many times before and i stand behind it, it all depends on the hamster, not on the gender but the way it has been treated. When you are taming your hamster you do have to play with him/her or it will become wild all over again. Im not sure about the week thing but you should play with your hamster a lot so it can get used to you. Biting could happen as you said that you have owned syrians... syrians are believed to be nicer and more laid back. Which you might agree with but they can be lazy at times :). Winter whites could nip and bite if they feel scared but many hamsters will, its just they way they are and biting is something that you just got to get used to...but thats where taming it will come into hand for you. There is no such thing as an evil hamster....

Here's a picture of my WW. She's the sweatest hammie ever. I don't know if I beleive that they go wild if you don't touch them for a week. I once had to leave all of my animals at my appt 1 time for 3 weeks. When we came they were fine. They were just as tame as ever.

Oh yea and heres another question.. I know Syrian hamsters like the heat more than the cold. After all, they live in hot weather in the wild.. but Winter Whites live in cold weather in the wild i heard, so should they be in a cooler place in the house? I live in South Florida so it can get pretty hott down here. . .
