I was curious, what are the differences (personality, food, socialability) between different types of hamsters?

well dwarf hammies love company and syrians must be kept alone... they arent very social and will kill one another if put in one cage together.

femalecheetah said it all....but in my experiance be careful when putting dwarfs together. i have two females who are littermates and have been with each other since birth who one day decided to hate one another and attack.
weird huh?
so just be careful....

i have two male dwarfs that did the same. now i have all my dwarf hamsters seperated except 3 females that get along...
i like dwarf hamsters. for me they're easier to handle. i have very small hands so they fit perfectly. whereas the syrian i had was too big and made it harder for me to handle.
dwarfs dont smell as bad either. i clean their cage weekly and at the end of the week it doesnt really have a smell to it at all. the syrian reeked after 3 or 4 days. so you might want to take that into consideration too.
