my hamster has normally had very regular times when he woke up and went to bed. Recently he has been staying in bed all night. A few nights ago he was on his wheel all night like normal and now he's been staying in bed. he's not eating more than a few seeds. does anyone have any idea why my hamster isn't being active? he's a young hamster, maybe 6 months. i am very worried about him

Has there been any change in the environment they're in? ie. has it been extra cold or hot in the room? Maybe it has something to do with that? My hammies are the same...sometimes they're really active, sometimes they don't do too much. I don't think you have to be too worried. Just keep an eye on him... if anything else wierd shows up, let us know... I'm not very knowledgable but maybe someone else can help you here! :p

Has it gotten warmer??
Any physical symptoms? Eyes clear and bright? No odd smells near the butt? Etc?
Lethargy and lack of appetite can be a concern if they indicate a disease. try some new foods and treats. No hamster can resist cool blueberries, or room temperature scrambled eggs. Mine love firm tofu. If yours rejects these treats I might consider consulting a good hamster vet; good ones return calls for free with advice.

thanks for the advice. i will try a new treat to see how he likes that. would a baby carrot be ok? thats all i have in the fridge right now.
another thing i did notice is that he is keeping his ears down, they are usually semi upright.
