i was just wondering can you put a lovebird with parakeets?iI have three parakeets but can i add a lovebird to their group?

No, lovebirds are very territorial and can easily kill smaller( and even larger) birds.

No, not in the same cage. It isn't even wise to bring a new bird in that is the same "kind" and put them in the same cage right away. Ideally, when you bring a new bird home it should be in quarantine for at least 60 days in another room to make sure it has no illnesses, washing you hands between visits to the new bird and that ones already there. I've never had a lovebird, I have other birds, but I have heard that lovebirds are agreesive in the cage and can kill birds bigger than them like cockatiels.

Even though birds are the same species, you will want to have separate cages for the older and new one because they may not get along right away. It's a long process of introducing them slowly. If they get along, after a time, you can try putting them in the same cage.

If you have a lovebird and parakeets in separate cages, and they are all let out together, they may end up getting along just fine together, preening each other and playing together, but when they go back in their cages for the night, they need to be housed separately.
