Turtles are VERY rewarding pets because they can be very difficult to raise and care for properly. They are demanding and need alot more care than a dog or cat. Most turtles aren't going to run up to you when you call their name, they aren't going to snuggle up to you and sit on the foot of your bed at night. All the same, when you love your turtle, get to know that turtle and all of its many unique expressions, and you hold the responsibility of its life in your hands, you will get to love it dearly, and to me,their is no better pet.

That's one site that I found that's pretty good, but you can find really good sites until you know what type of turtle you are interested in. Do you have any ideas about what kind you want?

turtles are very difficult for the first3-5 years or less. you have tofigure out what tempature they have to be at. and you have to build a cage outside and if they dig some of is has to be outside and they aren't supposed to be with dogs or almost any other animals. and they hibernate and when my cousins turtle was hibernating it died because it got too hot. so you still have to take care of the tempature when they are hibernating. they are very complicated animals but after you take care of that then you are considered very good and you will prbably hav fallen in love with it. lol:daisy:

Red-eared Sliders are fairly hardy turtles. They are water turtles and can be tremendously fun to watch. Turtles really shouldn't be bought for young children as pets of their own without alot of supervision on the parent's part. If you were asking if turtles will be aggressive to children, the answer is no for most species;they will most likely go in their shell or do something of that sort. Some do bite though, and for the most part the bite of the water turtle's
bite is more severe than a land turtle ot tortoise. They will become tame though and you don't have to worry TOO much about being bitten if you tame it. Salmonella and other harnful bacteria is also a concern for small children.(Children 3 and under being the biggest concern here.)Make sure children understand that they must wash their hands, etc. after handling the turtle if you decide to get one.
Box Turtles are very neat and they are not all that difficult to care for,but like all turtles, they do require alot of things that may seem difficult to provide, and hibernation is a very difficult thing to deal with. But you don't have to hibernate them.Keep them warm all winter and they won't hibernate.
If you still can't decide if you want a turtle or a mammal then you might want to wait and do some research.:agree: If you still think you want a turtle, look up those 2 choices and see if you think you like them, and decide if you want to get a land turtle or a water turtle. It's a VERY difficult decision, but a fun one!:p

When fed, housed, and cared for properly, turtles and tortoises of all kinds are both interesting, comical, and rewarding pets. The people that say turtles are boring have (in my opinion of course) not taken all the measures required to keep their turtle healthy and active. A healthy and active turtle will amuse you with its antics and you will have fun watching it grow, and watching your efforts pay off with a wonderful creature. Turtles are never going to be the same kind of pet that a dog would because they aren't going to "play" with you or anything of that sort. This may be reason for some people to say that turtles are "boring" pets, but turtles have their own unique way of pleasing you. Good luck with your decision!

Don't get a turtle unless you REALLY want it and know what you're getting into they can be very expensive and need lots of care and you can't play with it like you could with other animals.

They are pretty fun pets when kept properly (im refering to lad tortoises)
Personally turtles make too much of a mess in water.
If ur getting turtles imo get a land tortoise box tortoises are nice.
