1 or 2 Help!

1 or 2 hamsters. are hamsters better if they have a companion? i really need to know because i am going to the pet store today. There are 2 females one is pregnant and the other 1 might be. but i really like them both. but i dont want to get 2 if it won't be good for them. so what do you think?:D

What kind of hamsters are they?

Syrians hamsters are solitary animals and will fight to the death if kept together.

Dwarf hamsters however are highly solitary and need friends of there own kind.

That's what I have, I have two hamster's and their cages are lined up side by side. They love their territory!

thats ok. my friend did that once and when he put the two hammys together they realy liked each other and the female wasn't in heat

Leave a gap so noses can't touch and paws can't get bitten. If there trying to still attack each other move 1 cage or put a cardboard divider between them.

if u'd really bought the two of them.. ur initially question of keeping hamsters together will resurface soon if they r both pregnant... u'll have a whole lot of hamsters to deal with!

if u bought syrians... good luck.. each in a cage

if u bought dwarves... as least it's not so bad...
they can usually be kept together... until the female matures and would need to have its own space and territory (unless u wanna keep it with a male for breeding purposes)... males can usually be kept together as they r more mellow.. however, exceptions do occur and some might end up fighting still

thanks for all your replies. at the pet store i was interested in a orange teddy and a white teddy. but when i went the orange 1 that i really wanted was gone:bawling: i asked the owner of the pet store if he sold it and he said ya it was really sweet. i like ya thanks for making me feel so much better. i didn't really say that but i wanted to. i almost cried:bawling: but i got the white one. it is an albino. she is very sweet and she is pregnant. i like her a lot and she is pregnant. i have another question. what kind of cage. i keep having trouble with that:argue: i have a wire rat cage but she makes it so dangerous. but then there is a plastic cage that is really small. i have a bigger one but my brothers frogs are in it should i try to get a aquarium? help:D

Hope the cage has no wire floors. Wire floors can break there legs and give them bumble foot.

A 20 gallon aquarium will be the best if she pregnant as babies will be able to get out of wire cages.

u can keep 2 cages next to each other if ther syarians but if there dwarfs and there from the same litter than u can keep them together but make sure there the same sex! unless u want babys!:angel2:
