How long have you had the hamster? If you just recently got him, then you still need to tame and socialize him. And don't wake him up if he is sleeping or bother him when he wants to be left alone. Otherwise you will get bitten.
Some hamsters just aren't the cuddly type. If you hold them too long they will start nipping and biting. There's not much you can do about this.

If that's the case, then LUCYMCCORKELL you should use regular, unscented soap. Scented soaps may cause your hamster to try to taste your hands. Try uisng regular, plain soap and see if that helps.

CS HAS TRIED TO GET ME IF MY HANDS WERE DAMP- AND SHE BIT A FEW TIMES THE FIRST COUPLE WEEKS I HAD HER, BUT NOT ANYMORE (UNLESS SHE'S TRYING TO MAKE YOU LET GO OF THE CARROT SO SHE CAN STUFF THE WHOLE THING AT ONCE! LOL!)
