Can a head halter be used for a gentle muzzle? I am looking for something fairly inexpensive that can prevent biting but still allow my dog to drink etc. I found a picture of one but it was not shown on a dog so I would like to know how it would work before ordering one. Thanks!

no, headhalters are not meant for any kind of muzzling. Dog will still be able to open its mouth as wide as it can, i checked it out when i bought my halters. (yeah pried a rott's jaws open http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif
If your dog bites, its a behaviour problem and muzzling won't solve it. If you really have to, a muzzle allows drinking as well, but prevents barking / biting.
Just my two cents, good luck.
