I clumsily left the door insecue on my hamster's cage and I cannot find him anywhere in the house. He has escaped before from his upstairs cage and generally been found under the bed. It's unlikely that he has left the house as the doors are very tight.

The only other (horrible) possibility I can think of is that I leave the guinea pigs cage door open and he may have got in there and the guinea pigs ate him. is that possible? I hop I can find him. While he is very old, the thought of him starving round the house is awful.

Thanks,

Andy

I do hope you'll be able to find your hamster. I know how it feels, because my hamster escaped recently, but thankfully we found him the next day.

We set out a bucket with bedding and food in it, and it was tall enough that once inside, he couldn't get back out. I stacked some books next to the bucket, for him to use as steps. Sure enough, the next morning he was in the bucket! :)

Usually after it's dark, and the house is quiet, they'll come out looking for food, so you may be able to catch your hamster using that method. In the meantime, be very careful where you step, and about moving things around, so you don't risk squashing him. Also try to seal off any areas of escape, like gaps under doors, etc. I don't think the guinea pigs would eat him, although if the hamster got in their cage, I imagine it could be seriously injured.

Best wishes to you on finding your hamster.
