It is called “Back-flipping.” This is common in the Campbells. The hamster starts on his feet, does a complete flip backwards, and again lands on his feet. Sometimes they add a bit of a twist and land facing a different direction than they started from. (This is different than a hamster who falls on his back and may roll or “swim” around the cage on his back.) Back flipping does not usually show up until they are at least 5 weeks of age – sometimes later. With some, it gets extreme. They back flip during all waking hours. For these extreme cases, it is best to have a vet put them down.

And since your dwarf has been alone for awhile, it is not advisable to get him a new cage mate. Though social, they do adapt to living alone and will become territorial if introduced to a new cagemate.

2 weeks now, and then you said you will get her a cagemate in a little over 2 weeks. I would just leave her alone unless you can house another dwarf in a different cage.

my female dwarf hamster was seperated from her sister for a week and a half and wouldnt live with her again after that...about a week later i tried another introduction...unsucessful.
They can be very happy living on their own...just make sure u spend lots of extra time with her...thats what i do :)

My loner dwarf loves to see me. She comes running to the edge of her cage so I can let her out and hold her, or give her treats through the bars. (I know, I know, she is just getting trained, but darn it, I am pretending that she is really excited to see ME and not the treats I am giving her.)

I pretent stella is excite to see me as well (as oppsed to the treats)
Infact...when i open the cage door and ay my hand out in front of it she will climb up the bars and out the door onto my hand...CUTEST THING EVER

Anyways...your dwarf may adjust to being alone and love you all the more amandala45 :)
