I have a female dwarf that failed to deliver her babies.. It has been two days since she was expected to deliver but all there was were blood. Her stomach is bigger than usual and it is extremely cold. Today, I washed her underneath which is full of dried blood, and she look worst than ever. I have spend many years raising hamster but this is the first time I experienced this kind of birth problem. Anyone know any solution or have experienced this with your own hamster?

Yeah, its her first litter, shes probably 3 months old as I gotten her from a petstore 2 months ago. Somehow, her birth canal seem to be too small to deliver the babies... or the babies are stuck inside and have died since her lower body is very cold and dried but blood are still coming out.. she havent eat or drink for these two days and have gotten very skinny yet a big belly full of babies or corpses...

I have heard of plenty of Dwarfs holding a pregnancy, so having their babies late.. but by the sound of it, this is definately a failed delivery...
I urge you to take her to the vets ASAP... I am sure that hamster births are different to human births in so many ways... but I have personally birthed 3 babies... and it HURTS... even when its going ok! :o Your hamster must be in agony... poor thing...
Please please do the right thing by her.....

I have to say, replacing your ham that quick is kind of odd. It makes you look like you didn't care about her. You should have at least waited a week or something, out of respect for the dead. You wouldn't replace your mother that quickly if she died would you??? :undecided
I pray for you...may god have mercy on your soul  :goodbad: :redhot:

This is the kind of thing I hate, when people don't consider hamsters, dwarfs or syrians, as living, breathing animals. They're not just some toy that can get thrown away and replaced when the batteries die. Poor girl, I hope she is in hammy heaven right now having a good time without her pathetic owner. :headshake :mad1:

i mean i know some people dont get over attached to their pets but an animal deserves the right to be mourned.
the poor girl was probably in pain for days!
i feel so bad for her!i know what that is like for a human and i bet its exactly the same for a hamster! :crybucket

It might even be worse for a ham, having 5 or more babies in there...poor girl:(
I was going to breed my Ham girl but my parents made me wait until school was over. She is 8 months old now and I'm not going to breed her. I read this thing yesterday about how at 6 months old their pelvic bones fuse together and if they haven't had a litter yet they fuse in a narrower position. If she got pregnant she wouldn't be able to have the babies!!! I'm glad I found out.:)

I take it these forums are moderated... can someone not do an IP check?
If its the same IP, surely they can ban from source?

I have no idea. I just think it's awful that someone would post something like "my hamster died and we got another one" after we know what the poor girl went through. And then not bother to post anymore!!!:mad:

I can't believe it vindictive, you don't sound the least upset. And that's BS that the other 3 need company. Do you always do what your girlfriend tells you to???:dodgy: :rolleyes1

did you say you keep them all in one four layered cage????
its stupid to think u can just replace and animal. the other hamsters you have know she is gone.u could at least give them a chance to get used to that!!!

Yeah Vindictive, they're greeving too. Oh, and Trix the hams are dwarfs (I think?) so it's ok that they're together. But of course you already knew that, lol:)
