wee have a syrian hamster less than a year old and we have just went to get her out her cage and noticed when we opened the cage she was a little wet and breathing very heavily and not moving to well we opened the cage up and she has poo stuck to and hanging from her bum and she tried to get up and couldnt stand very well her left sided paws were dragging and her left eye is closed although she is trying to open it i suspect it could be a stroke but am not sure please if someone can help ASAP thanks a lot

It could be wet tail. Is she wet on her Bottom? I would get her to the vet.

I think the only reason she is wet in the bottom is because she was unable to move and maybe wet herself she isnt moving very well and is falling about and rolling into a ball then stretching out as much as possible if anyone has any other help please add me to msn as its faster to talk in messenger thanks a lot wheezy_weasle@hotmail.com

Update 03:46 am>
Ive been sitting up with her, and she seems very tired, to be honest i do not think it is heat stroke as it hasn't been warm at all today...the more i look up on her symptoms the more it points to stroke...its as if her one side is paralysed she has no sense of balance, and falls and rolls about everytime she tries to move....she didnt feel as warm as she usually does so she has been moved to a smaller cage where i can keep a closer eye on her i have also added a warm bottle of water wraped in a cloth to keep her snug. every so often im getting her to take a drink but she has not ate anything, her eye was stuck together so i bathed this and now it is open. I've heard that they can recover from stroke within a few weeks of care.
what do you guys think, am i doing the right thing here??? , please note, if she seems the same or worse by morning i will be taking her to the vet! PS sorry in all the panic i put me wrong yahoo addy it is looby_lulu79 thanks again

maybe it was stroke ...or maybe its an inner ear infection..which also causes them to be off balance and may explain the eye thing.
But yeah...the vet will be able to tell yoj more is she is still not feeling well in the monirng...
Good luck with the hammie! and keep us posted
