1. You need a loving heart to give it attention and make sure his cage fits his/her needs.
2. You need to know they are nocternal and not yell at them at 4am if they are too loud.
3. You can give them Carrots, Cucumber, Lettuce, Apple, etc. Make sure you know what your feeding it.
4. Dont feed it Fruits and Veggies often. Only about 2 bits a Week.
5. Get all your supplies at a Pet Store or from breeders. Do not buy your hamster and (example: Walmart)
6. Make sure food is always in his dish, and clean his cage about once a week or once every two weeks.
7. If you do not want to breed, dont put hamsters in the same cages.
Feel Free to add anything.

Well I use Pine. Been using it for the last few years, and the hamsters lived up to their lifespan ;o

You aren't the hamster you don't know what kind of pain it could have been in. You'll live eating mcdonalds every day, doesn't mean it's healthy.
Pine can also cause liver and kidney problems. I would rather provide healthy alternatives for my animals than just "oh they lived to their lifespan" I would rather have them live PAST their life span.
