I here is my cage. I'm sure you have seen it before though i am still working on it lol. I cant figure out what to cover around the bottom of the mesh with so she wont cut her paws on the sharp edge of it, and clue of what to do lol. If you have any ideas Thank you.

those look so small for syrians, I have heard they are really bad for them as they can get stuck in the tubes when they get older/bigger.

Chaos where did you get that yellow and purple wheel that hangs over the side of the bin? Thats pretty cool. How big is it?

Heh, she's also chubby and twice the size of her sisters. I never figured out why either. :p

The wheel is made by habitrail, when I went looking for wheels they only had those and the runged kind. They are kinda noisy sometimes, but not worse than my silent (or not so silent) spinner.

I just got a silent spinner and I think its AWFUL! I use a differnt wheel from habitrail and now that I put some peanutbutter on it...it is VERY quite....MUCH QUIETER than the so called silent spinner.
So disapointed with the silent spinner....was so excited to get it...huge let down...its quite...as long asmy hammie wasnt on it...hehe

But yeah...that habitrail wheel is realyy cool looking :)

WOW! Those cages are A-MAZING! I wish I had that much dilligance to put one together like that. I tried it once and it fell apart so I stoped. After seeing all of those, it makes me want to try again!

Chaos - what kind of food do u feed your hammies?

I make their own foods from a rat diet. They all eat the same thing and do quite well on it. Though they usually pick out all the good stuff and leave the dog food (what you can see in the bowl) for last.

Since my dog's food has too much protein (23%) I buy them their own, its Natural Balance vegetarian formula, but still has 18% protein.

Fluff, if you bolt the mesh to the outside of the cage instead of the inside your ham's feet can't get cut up:)

savy.. i remember reading somewhere you added levels to the bin.. i want to do that for my hamsters eventually. how did you do that? with wood and screws and such?

Actually Christen I used this plastic stuff my Dad got at work (he works for a company that designs rides and exibits for Universal Studios and such) because wood tends to soak in urine and has to be changed often. Then I put slots in the sides of my bin and slid the tabs of the plastic through the slots. It was really hard to do.:( But it looks really cool now, I can't wait to get pics.!!!:)

Hey! Ilike your cages, but some look kinda small, but it could just be because it is a picture. Do you think that those bin cages are good to use? I was going to get one but i was scared that my dog would be able to get in, and we all know what that would lead too.. and do they make hamster bin brands or do you just get a big bin???

It's just a regular bin from rubbermaid. I got it for 10 bucks at walmart. There is no hamster brand bins. I have 7 cats and none of them get in the bin. So I don't see how a dog would get in.

Yeah, a dog couldn't get in, especially if you had the cage on a table. And if you think it's sort of small you could put two bins together connected by tubes.:)

dogs chew, cats generally don't (though one of our cats really likes plastic? little freak, lol). We have had our dogs chew holes in things before, so don't count it out.

Just put the bin up where the dog can't get to it.

Do you have a hamster i take it that you dont. I just want to start off buy saying if your looking into getting a hamster do as much research as you can so that later you arn't on here saying he/she has wet tail or something. Sorry i just have seen it so many times and it's getting so old!

Your in the US so you can fin the at petco, petsmart petshops really anywere that sells small animals supplies. If you dont already know syrains have to be housed alone and they also need bigfer cages than dwarfs. :D

I have a 90qt clear bin for my two robos, they are pee-your-pants-funny!! Too bad I can't hold them:( But they make up for it all with their crazy sillyness! I so glad my bin is clear!! Names are Calvin & Hobbes , in case you are wondering x3
