Hello, I am new to this website. I have a male russian tortoise. His name is Lento. I am having some problems with him lately...he is not eating his greens, but will eat a vegi such as a green bean and he will also eat fruit. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me. Thank you!!

Hey Justine,
I'm sorry to hear about your russian. I myself have 2 russians a male and female. Let me start off by saying please stop feeding him fruit this could cause problems. Also no more green beans. Try this, feed his mustard greens, collard green, dandelion leaves, kale is all good, veriety is the key do not feed him lettuce and only feed him romaine once in awhile. Cut up his food very very small with a knife and give him what he could eat in 30 minutes every other day. i have tried to give him a variety of greens and he just walks away from them. i have been giving him broccoli stems lately just so he has something in his stomach. i dont know what his problem is. i think he is just being picky. thanks for your help!

is he eating yet justine? I'd also try some dandelion flowers and the leaves mixed in whith those chopped up greens. If he's still not eating chop the vegetables up smaller. - Alissa
