I have a question...do gerbils need vaccination like dogs or pills for intenstinal parasites? What medical help do they need during their lifetime?? I had gerbils before but as far as I know they don't need medical support if they don't have problems...Am I right or not?
Oh, and another thing : what vitamins should I give them?

They don't need vitamins if you give them a good quality gerbil food (without a lot of whole corn and with 15 % protein). They don't need shots and you only need to take them to the vet in the unlikely case that they get ill or have a tumor (such as a scent gland tumor). If they are bred from weak lines or too in-bred you may have more problems that othewise (so getting them from a responsible breeder or quality petshop is a good idea).

Gerbils are hardy animals and when healthy there is no need for vitamins or medication for internal parasites such as in dogs & cats.
However, with that said should an accident happen you will need to provide your Gerbils with vetenarian care which can become expensive.
Just remember that there is always a chance they will become ill in which case, they need to see a Vet.
Another thing, you must always get at least a pair of Gerbils as they are social animals.

Thx for your answears! you made clear my guesses that gerbils only need medical care if they have problems.I see this as another great advantage of careing for gerbils...:)
Thx again!
