Hi,

I have two dwarf hamsters. One of them is wounded (his back)but i don't know what happened so i'm sending pictures of the wound maby you can give me an opinion about how serious it is. (Pictures are not perfect but i think they can give you an idea about what it is if you've seen similar wounds before.)

If he's kept with another then seperate immediatly - looked like this was a fight to kill.

yes they are. i think you're right but do you think that this wound will be ok on it's own or needs further help. (I just cleaned it's wound)

Take him to the vet, cause there youll most likely get an antibiotic ointment to help accelerate the healing process.

judging by the colour of fur i recon you've got 2 syrians

they are gray-white dwarves. color is because of the antiseptic solution i used for cleaning the wound.

Many of my hamsters have had the exact same thing in the past. My guess would be that it is cancer, because after they got it, they died 2 days later.

i hope you're wrong but it is possible that same thing will happen to him :( But if so, i wonder what was the cause?

The cause could be trauma...ummmm... i'm really not sure, but that looks really bad. Is is getting any better since you took the pictures?I hope so!

No, it got worse. I seperated two of them next day after i sent this pictures here, because i though that other one is cause of the further expansion of the wound. I hope wound won't continue to expand. Btw he is very active playing like it has no wound.

i don't think it is a cancer..

mostly probably resulted from fights like what u said

to my knowledge cancer causes lumps and it looks like a fight wound to me

tahts gotta be a fight wound. dont put the two together again because they will most likey try to kill each other again.

i would take the wounded one to the vet, they will treat the wounds and maybe give you some meds for it( obviously for the hamster not you)
