There is a gerbil show coming up in Springfield, Missouri (USA) next month. If the gerbils are registered with the American Gerbil Society they can compete to become champions. If not, they can enter fun classes (which are free) and compete on their talents for ribbons:

Best revive an old thread rather than create a new one.

I have been curious.. what all happens at a gerbil show? Do breeders sell their gerbils there? Or is it just one big program where people show off their gerbils?

I would so love to go to that, but it is an 11 hour drive from where I live, and I have to work that night! I mean I could probably get out of work that night, but I also work the next morning. I guess I'll just have to go to the next one and plan it better so I can get out of work.

People often do have gerbils available for adoption at the shows. There are also many specialty items for sale at vendor tables. There is a reception the night before (Friday). People with AGS registered gerbils compete for show points on Saturday and there is a fun match where gerbils compete on fun categories (like fastest TP roll gnawer). Usually there are some other events and activities for kids, e.g., gerbil-color bingo for raffle prizes. Then on Saturday night there is a dinner, so basically 24 hours of non-stop gerbil chatting - what could be better?

That sucks that I have to work (and that it is an 11 hour drive for me.)
