Stevens Point, hey cottontail you know that a damselfish isn't a great tankmate for a lot of fish right? They are pretty darn aggressive. (I've got two in a 20 gallon and thats 2 too many)

Cottontail
09-28-05, 04:40 PM 09-28-05
Yeah, I know. I've done a lot of research on the two fish I'm hoping to get and they are compatable. There's also a great website that has lots of fish profiles, compatable tank mates and similar fish. http://www.fishprofiles.com/

Cottontail - actually I talked to a guy from fish profiles, and most of the fish suggestions on the actual profile are just water parameter matched, NOT aggressiveness or anything like that... Which is why fishforums profiles are a lot more reliable (even though they are just starting to set them up). Damselfish and royal grammas are not a good match, I know from personal experiance. In my 55 gallon those two damsels killed my royal gramma and clownfish way back when (which is why now they are banished to the 20 gallon). The only thing they didn't harrass was... well, the hermit crabs.

Cottontail, are you by chance a member of fishprofiles?

fishfirst, I happen to be a member of FP, and, although our profiles aren't as good as our name suggests, our forum community is by far the strongest I've ever seen on any fish site. We're usually #1 on Aquarank, and for a good reason.

Anyway, I have 2 tanks:

2.5 gallon, unplanted
1 betta

20 gallon long, planted
6 neon tetras
(planning on adding 4 more neons, 8 marbled hatchets, and 4 apistogramma agassizi with plants to balance out the bioload)

However, I am itching to set up an Indian biotope with some Badis Badis and dwarf puffers as the centerpiece

gizmo pig - it wasn't a bash on fish profiles... although I don't frequent there, I have read posts, and I agree the individual forums were good, but the profiles section wasn't as good as I hoped... which is why I discouraged cottontail to take the information that they gathered on the profiles to heart... I unfortunately made the same mistake they are about to make... and I wanted to warn them.

No I'm not a member. I find some of the information helpful, but I always try to verify it in more than one place. Thanks for the concern.
